On this episode of #CrackYourBible, we’re talking about modesty and nudity in the Bible. While Christians today, especially in the US, have extremely Puritanical views towards nudity and shame, we see that this attitude toward nakedness is not mirrored in the Bible. Apostles, kings and prophets praised God in the buff – yet a slip of the shoulder, a bikini, or even an uncircumcised man are enough to turn the most covered up Christian into a hate-spewing legalist today. -What is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God. Luke 16:15
-Strong’s Concordance #5708 the word for “filth” has to do with mensuration. Isaiah 64:6
-Timothy was circumcised so that he could effectively witness to the Jewish people. Acts 16:1-5
-Peter fished in the nude. John 21:7
-Titus was not to be circumcised so that Christians wouldn’t believe that circumcision was a requirement. Galatians 2:3-5
-What comes from a man’s heart defiles him – he wears or eats does not defile a man. Matthew 15:10-20
-To the Jews I became as a Jew. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. 1 Corinthians 9:20-23
-Avoid people that choose to engage in unrepentant, willful sin. 2 Timothy 3:1-5
-Isaiah walked naked and barefoot for three years. Isaiah 20:1-4
-Micah said, I will go stripped and naked. Micah 1:7-9
-King Saul stripped off his clothes and he too prophesied before Samuel. 1 Samuel 19:20-24
