Eternity – Pastor Obed Martinez – Treasures in Heaven

In this video

Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. – Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NLT)

17 Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. 18 Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. 19 By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life. – 1 Timothy 6:17-19 (NLT)

“We Live for Heaven, while were Living on Earth!”

A. Because Heaven, not Earth, is my Home

18 For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth. 20 But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. – Philippians 3:18-20 (NLT)

B. Because there is Limited Time and Incredible Opportunity

15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. – Ephesians 5:15-16 (NLT)

C. Because it is Smart

19 “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. 21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. – Matthew 6:19-21 (NLT)

Living Rich Towards God

16 And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. 17 He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ 18 “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. 19 And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.” 20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?” 21 “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”– Luke 12:16-21 (NLT)

1. GIVE YOURSELF TO GOD

19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV)

With My Body I want to Honor God By:
· Being A Vessel of Honor for Him
· Using my Gifts and Talents to Honor Him (VOLUNTEER)
· Being in a Community of believers growing in Him (LIFE GROUP)

2. ACT LIKE A STEWARD, NOT AN OWNER

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it. – Psalms 24:1 (NIV)

3. VIEW EVERYTHING THROUGH THE LENS OF ETERNITY

25 He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. 26 He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward. – Hebrews 11:25-26 (NIV)

4. BE INTENTIONAL

I want each of you to take plenty of time to think it over, and make up your own mind what you will give. That will protect you against sob stories and arm-twisting. God loves it when the giver delights in the giving. – 2 Corinthians 9:7 (MSG)
