Modesty culture is teaching a Gnostic gospel – one where women sacrifice their beauty to prevent sin. Women’s superficial looks are elevated above the finished work on the Cross of Jesus Christ.

On this episode of #CrackYourBible, we’re talking about modesty, ego and pride. Today we see that the modesty and purity cultures teach that women can prevent sin in other people by how they dress. They blaspheme the work of the Cross by elevating women in “modest” clothing as the savior of men who harbor sin in their hearts. This teaching of women as the savior of men comes straight from Gnosticism and is the same false doctrine that Paul told Timothy to not allow to be taught in his church at Ephesus.

✝️ *From the Bible we know that:*
-Gnostics were causing havoc at the Church at Ephesus by teaching false doctrines. 1 Timothy 1:2-7
-Epitrepo / Epetrepsen (verb conjugation of “to permit / allow temporarily:) is found in both 1 Timothy 2:12 and Luke 8:32
-Paul addressed the Gnostic heresy of Sophia and Eve creating and teaching Adam, and that sex was banned, and could cause a pregnant woman to lose her salvation. 1 Timothy 2:12-15
-Asceticism has an appearance of wisdom, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh. Colossians 2:18-23
-Ascetics forbid people to marry and commanded them to abstain from food. 1 Timothy 4:1-5
-Pharisees bragged about their righteousness while putting others down. Luke 18:9-14
-Moses lifted up a bronze serpent on a pole (representative of the cross) for people to look upon and be healed. Numbers 21:8-9
-Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness and Jesus was lifted up upon the cross. John 3:14-16
-God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:1-9
-The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. Romans 8:26-28
-Pharisees were modesty in order to be seen as righteous, rather than because they believed it was the right thing to do. Matthew 6:1 & Matthew 23:5
