Today on #CrackYourBible, we’re talking about the Kate Steinle’s murder that has gone unpunished as the man who murdered her, Jose Zarate, was acquitted of her murder and avoided a manslaughter charge. How should Christians respond to calls for the death penalty? What does God say about punishing murder and manslaughter?

From the Bible we know that:
• Do not accept a ransom for a murder or anyone convicted of manslaughter. Numbers 35:31-32
• Manslaughter results in being sent to a city of refuge or a sanctuary city. Numbers 35:22-25
• The Avenger of Blood can execute those convicted of manslaughter that leaves a city of refuge. Numbers 35:26-28
• Do not follow the crowd to pervert justice or show favoritism to a poor man in a lawsuit. Exodus 23:2-3
• “Vengeance is mine” declares the Lord. Deuteronomy 32:35
