? 5 MORE WORST Christian dating rules that are keeping you SINGLE | Part 2

Today on #CrackYourBible, we’re talking about the well-meaning but naïve dating advice that so many Christians in the West are told. Unfortunately, because most of the popular Christian dating tips are completely unbiblical, single Christians can end up frustrated, lonely and single!

Part 1: https://youtu.be/ak_Hi7EgLns

*Let’s examine some of the 5 popular but unbiblical Christian dating tips:*
1. Guard your heart (Don’t risk getting hurt!)
2. Be friends first (The friendzone doesn’t exist!)
3. Be content in your singleness (Learn to accept that you’re alone.)
4. Wait for God’s match for you (God has your soul mate!!!)
5. Listen to your family & friends (They never have unreasonable demands or personal prejudice!)

*Let’s replace those not-so-great tips with these dating tips:*
1. Be open to love (Even though you’ll risk getting hurt, you can overcome all things through Jesus.)
2. Be honest about your intentions (You’re not looking for friendship, you’re looking for love.)
3. Work towards your goal (You won’t find love unless you are actively pursuing your goal.)
4. Be active in choosing your spouse (Ask God for an opportunity to meet people who would be compatible with you.)
5. Use discernment. (Listen to God, use your brain, and learn to ignore superficial qualifiers.)
*From the Bible we know that:*
• “Guard your heart” against ignoring wisdom! Proverbs 4:20-24
• It’s God who guards our heart and mind when we pray. Philippians 4:4-7
• I can do all things through Christ. Philippians 4:12-13
• It’s better to marry than to burn with passion. 1 Corinthians 7:6-9
• Ruth proposed to Boaz – marry me or else! Ruth 3:7-9
• Jacob went to his uncle Laban when he wanted to marry Rachel. Genesis 29:18-20
• Righteous people choose their friends carefully. Proverbs 12:26
• Abraham’s servant asked God for success in finding a spouse for Isaac. Genesis 24:12-15
• Job’s wife told him to curse God and die. Job 2:9-10
• Miriam and Aaron grumbled against Moses because he was in an interracial marriage. Numbers 12:1-5
