Rich Wilkerson, Jr — Losing Your Ship

In this video

In a perfect world, we’d be able to control every aspect of our life. But in the end, would planning every detail and knowing the outcome of a situation really benefit us?

Oftentimes we can be so intentional about wanting certain things for our lives, that when we finally receive it and it’s not as great as we expected, we look for the next “thing” to fulfill us.

When we decide to follow God, we have to stop seeking control and find the courage to allow God to do His will in our lives. In order to receive all that God has for us, we have to lose our thoughts on how our lives should play out and let go of our comfort zone.

The ship of life that we’re on is sometimes the very thing that holds us back and in order to get to our destiny, we have to abandon the ship.

So what do those ships in our life look like? Shame as a result of our sins, hurts we held onto from other people, idolizing good things over our relationship with God and pride, looking to ourselves for the things we should find in God.

It’s in God we find the security, hope and love we look for in people and material things and the sooner we let go of everything holding us back, the sooner we can walk in what God has called us to.
