Is Couples Counseling A Good Idea During His Affair?

Our live caller wants to know if couples counseling is a good idea if her husband is still in an affair.

Dr. Joe Beam and Kimberly Holmes explain that this caller needs to make sure she knows whether or not her counselor is willing to help save her marriage. Is he “pro-marriage?”

Additionally, she needs to feel confident and comfortable with this counselor. Especially because her husband is in a vulnerable situation being in an affair. If the counselor were to say: “You just need to be happy.” Or, “You just need to leave.” Or even, “You need to try a trial separation.” Then that’s sometimes all a spouse needs to hear to check out from the marriage.
