REJECTING God’s Name | Tower of Babel | Genesis 11:1-4

Today on #CrackYourBible, we’re talking about how those who built the Tower of Babel did so with the express purpose of rejecting God in all ways, including rejecting His name, to make a name for themselves. What does it mean to “make a name” for someone? Why is “Shem” or a “name” so important when it comes to the God? How is a name related to “taking God’s Name in vain?”

From the Bible we know:
• People in the plains of Shinar decided to go to war against God. Genesis 11:1-4
• We are not to take God’s name in vain. Exodus 20:7, Leviticus 19:12
• Anything we ask in Jesus’ name, He will do it. John 14:12-14
• God knows our inmost being by “knowing our name.” Exodus 33:17
• God knit us together and knew us before we were born. Psalm 139:7-16
• Eternal life is knowing God. John 17:3
