Can a Christian Drink?

Can a Christian Smoke?

What about drinking in Moderation?

What does the Bible say about drinking?

Is drinking / consuming alcohol a sin?

Is smoking weed or any other substance a sin?

What does the bible say about all of this?

The bible answers all of these questions, but because of the lack of proper understanding and knowledge, the scripture in the bible is indeed true when it says “My People Perish for a lack of knowledge” . Drinking / Consuming Alcohol , even if its in moderation, is completely wrong and is a sin that defiles the temple of the Holy Spirit which is your body – the same body that the LORD Jesus Christ , brutally suffered upon the cross for and purchased you with HIS BLOOD!

The idea of drinking in moderation is a great deception, a lie from the devil ! God wants us to turn to Him and deny the flesh and its carnal desires to conform to things of this world. God wants us to conform to the Image of His Son.

Many will use the excuse “Jesus turned water into wine” or “Drinking in moderation is okay as long as you don’t get drunk” or “smoking weed or hubbly (hookah) as a Christian is okay” but this is so far from the Truth in God’s Word!

Scripture does not encourage Drinking and Smoking any substance at all!

We know this by looking at scriptures like (Keywords are in Capital Letters) :

1 Peter 4:3 “For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles—when we walked in lewdness, lusts, DRUNKENNESS, REVELRIES, DRINKING PARTIES, and abominable idolatries.

We see in this scripture alone, that the Bible gives a wide varying range, from absolute drunkenness, to engaging in social parties that involve the consuming of alcohol. The very truth that God’s Word says “Drinking parties” should give us the hint that its not just the amount of alcohol that matters, but the very act of drinking or social drinking, is not encouraged by scripture at all.

In the Hebrew, there is only one word for wine and unfermented grape juice which is the Word “yayin” and it is the same word that is used interchangeably for both wine and fermented grape juice . We often see God’s disapproval of yayin in the Bible as well as the approval of yayin…. and so we can clearly know when God was talking about fermented grape juice and unfermented grape juice which was alcoholic wine. This clearly shows that Jesus would not contradict His Word when He turned water into wine… we know that the wine miracle was not fermented grape juice / alcohol/ alcoholic wine !
