Kerry Shook: Tug of War

In this video

There’s something so simple, yet so powerful about the game of Tug of War. Tug of War has been going on in relationships since the beginning of humanity. Adam and Eve played Tug of War with God for control of the Garden of Eden, and they lost. There’s been a destructive game of tug of war in marriages, families, friendships, relationships ever since. People play tug of war to try and get their way, digging in their heels, trying to pull the other person to their side, to make sure their needs get met first.

God’s ideal for our closest relationships should be harmony, unity and love with no strings attached. The tug of war in relationships causes disharmony, disillusionment, disappointment and deep wounds. There are many different kinds of conflict in relationships. Let’s look at how Jesus loves us. Let’s love like that.

Scripture: Ephesians 5: 2; Genesis 32: 24-32, 27: 36, 32: 7-8, 33: 3-4
