“The Real You” series – Week 9: You Are Righteous in Christ!

In this video

Your righteousness in Christ is not based on your good behavior or perfect obedience. It’s based on what Jesus did for you through His death and resurrection!

“That sounds too simple, Sandra.” Yep, it sure is. The Gospel is not complicated. Jesus literally did it all! Our part in the New Covenant of God’s Grace is to believe that He finished the work and provided everything we need to reign in life through Him!

Let me ask you a question? Did you obtain your free gift of righteousness from God by your good works? NO! Then you cannot lose your free gift of righteousness from God because of anything you do wrong! The moment any of us think we can do that, we’ve started depending on our own righteousness (self-righteousness), instead of God’s gift of righteousness given to us…all because of Jesus!

Here’s the foundational verse for this series:

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come! (AMPC)

Here are some comments from others on this video:

“Wonderful, powerful words, sister” – Franklin from Chennai, India

“I have a 5 year old and its been so freeing to help remind him of who he is in Christ even when his behavior doesn’t line up.” – Rebecca from Newbury Park, California

“Amen…all because of our beautiful Jesus. So thankful for Him…always!” ❤️- Joanie from Bourbon, Missouri

“I am innocent because Jesus was raised from the dead!” – Gwen from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma

“I LOVE it how you put that, we are.on the other side of the Cross!” – Sarah from Dorchester, Dorset, United Kingdom

More verses I used in this video:

There is a big difference in God’s righteousness and our righteousness. Here is what the prophet Isaiah had to say about our righteousness:

Isaiah 64:6
We are all infected and impure with sin.
When we display our righteous deeds,
they are nothing but filthy rags. (NLT)

But the good news is….
2 Corinthians 5:21 says this: For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (NKJV)

Romans 8:15-16
This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?” God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who He is, and we know who we are: Father and children. (MSG)

Philippians 3:9-11
9 My passion is to be consumed with Him and not clinging to my own “righteousness” based in keeping the written Law. My “righteousness” will be His, based on the faithfulness of Jesus Christ—the very righteousness that comes from God. 10 And I continually long to know the wonders of Jesus more fully and to experience the overflowing power of His resurrection working in me. I will be one with Him in His sufferings and I will be one with Him in his death. 11 Only then will I be able to experience complete oneness with him in his resurrection from the realm of death. (TPT)

Romans 4:20-25
20 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21 being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. 22 This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.” 23 The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, 24 but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. 25 He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. (NIV)

Galatians 2:20-21
20 “My old identity has been co-crucified with Messiah and no longer lives; for the nails of his cross crucified me with him. And now the essence of this new life is no longer mine, for the Anointed One lives his life through me—we live in union as one! My new life is empowered by the faith of the Son of God who loves me so much that He gave Himself for me, and dispenses His life into mine![a]
21 “So that is why I don’t view God’s grace as something minor or peripheral. For if keeping the law could release God’s righteousness to us, the Anointed One would have died for nothing.” (TPT)
