Smart Money, Smart Kids by Dave Ramsey and Rachel Cruze at Gateway Church

The Chinese community in particular, and generally Asian parents have taught their children from an early age from generation to generation the importance and the value of money; to manage whatever wealth – money, stocks, properties and business wisely, that they have built up over a long period of time. And to be content and prudent. Parents would teach their children never to buy something they cannot afford or to buy on credit. They know this principle – “The rich rule over the poor; And the borrower is a slave to the lender.” (Proverb 22:7). To spent wisely is to save for the “rainy days” so that they could pass-it-on to the next generation – to their children’s children. A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the sinner’s wealth is laid up for the righteous. (Proverb 13:22)

“Godliness with contentment is great gain”… these are biblical principles that have proven again and again to be true to those who practice them. Also, there is no substitute to “hard work”.

Wealth is given to the prudent. ‘Money gained by cheating (people) will soon be gone. Money earned through hard work will grow and grow’. (Pro 13:11 – ERV). ‘Go to the ant, you hater of work; learn from her ways and be wise’: (Proverb 6:6). ‘She store food during summer. So when the winter comes, there is plenty to eat.’ (Proverb 6:8).

The saying is true: “A man with an experience is not at the mercy of a man with an opinion”. Countries like China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, South Korea… and the Jews who practice this principle in God’s laws; these are countries that have huge foreign reserves. Their surplus records are clearly evident. Even in countries where there are large Chinese or Asian communities, those countries are blessed because there are huge amount of savings by these communities of people and more importantly, they are “debt free”.
