Purim is one of the most joyous holidays on the Jewish calendar! Did you know it commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish People from destruction in the ancient Persian Empire? It is a story recorded in the biblical book of Esther. Purim is celebrated with exchanging gifts of food and drink, charity to the poor, a celebratory meal and a public recitation of the Scroll of Esther.
